A huge 2-year project to rebuild a domain and hosting company's system. We used a modern Nx Monorepo to connect four big apps together.
The Idea
The old Vue system was hard to maintain and looked old. The company needed a new, beautiful, and easy-to-use platform for the 21st century. It had to be very fast and logical for the users.
The Approach
Building a Monorepo was hard, but I learned fast. The biggest challenge was sharing code between the four apps without errors. I used TypeScript everywhere for type safety. This helped me catch bugs before they happen. I also managed all complex API calls to connect the frontend to the backend. I updated React and Next.js many times, added Google Analytics, and wrote many tests (Unit and E2E). I used Zustand to save data.
Visual Identity
For the main website, I followed an Adobe XD design perfectly. I used Tailwind CSS. For the client and reseller portals, I planned the design myself. I used Material UI and Tailwind together. This made the work fast and the pages look great.
Art Direction
A hosting company must look professional and safe. I used the company's brand colors everywhere. The design is modern, clean, and very easy to read and use.
The Platform
On the main site, users can search for domains, buy them, and choose hosting plans. They can even build a custom hosting plan with sliders. The Help app has a smart search for questions. Inside the client portal, users can do everything: pay bills, change DNS settings, manage emails, and control their databases.
The Launch
The launch was safe. My boss managed the backend, servers, and the CI/CD pipeline. We worked together to put the new system online without breaking the old websites.
Current Status
All four apps are finished and live. Hundreds of people use them every day. I do not work at this company anymore, but I am very proud of this stable and fast system.
Team & Tech Stack
I built the entire frontend alone for two years. My boss is a full-stack developer, and he mentored me. By the end, I worked very independently and reached a Medior level. We used Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Material UI, and Nx Monorepo.
